About

Ollie Dart is a UK based photographer exploring the grounds of documentary practice through social, political and historical themes.

His mixed media project ‘A Documentation Of Modernity’ included a group of ever-moving screens holding videos repurposed from the news and other media outlets. The project explored the overwhelming nature of the news media in an age of mass and misinformation.

Dart continues to explore ideas of the present time and place more closely in his publication ‘Fratton High Street’ documenting the Portsmouth high street in one specific moment. It provokes the question in the future, could the book be used to view spaces along the high street that no longer exist?

Dart’s current project ‘Forgotten Lands’ explores the decline of UK seaside towns, asking the question of what’s left since these locations glory days? Dart is drawn to these locations due to their historical relevance in British history, and British photographical history as well as being interested in the similarities of each place and their ‘frozen in time’ feeling.
